Congratulations to our 2010 Student Scholarship Winner!
BMA-Milwaukee congratulates Britta Svoboda of University of
Wisconsin-Whitewater on winning the 2010 Student Scholarship.
Britta is a junior at UW-Whitewater currently majoring in Public
Relations, with a minor in Marketing. Britta has a 4.0 GPA in her
major, and hopes to one day have a career in the field of event
planning.
Britta is an active member of the Public Relations Student
Society of America (PRSSA) at UW-Whitewater. She is the editor of
the organization's "PR Insight Newsletter," and chairs its
Professional Development team. Britta is also a member of multiple
honor associations, and serves as the PR Chair for the
UW-Whitewater Honors Program.
In addition to her many academic accomplishments, Britta also
volunteers her time to a variety of community service and
leadership programs. In the last year, she has served as a
university peer mentor to incoming freshmen and transfer students,
and as an Entertainment Intern for the Student Entertainment
Awareness League on campus.
"Britta is an excellent student who takes an active role in her
school and her future career," said Tom Graybill, Scholarship Chair
of the BMA's University Outreach Committee. "The judges were
impressed by not only her knowledge, but also by her thirst to
learn."
As this year's scholarship winner, Britta will receive a $1,500
academic scholarship, as well as free attendance to all regular BMA
meetings for the 2010-2011 season.
"Britta carries on the tradition of excellent BMA scholarship
recipients," said Graybill. "In fact, all three of our
finalists were extremely well-qualified, making the decision a
difficult one for our judging team."
Barbara Kolb of Mt. Mary College and Danielle Krizan of
UW-Whitewater were the other two finalists for the BMA scholarship.
Barbara and Danielle will also receive free attendance to all
regular BMA meetings in the 2010-2011 season.
